Lake George Minerals and More

Bicolor Topaz with needle inclusions

Smoky Quartz, Amazonite with purple Fluorite
For much of the winter the ground is too frozen to dig crystals, so it is a time to review last seasons successes and catalog new finds and acquisitions. Normally I don't bother too much with small crystals, but last Christmas my rock hounding buddy Bob got a new microscope camera and software to better take pictures of thumbnails or smaller features on cabinet specimens. These pictures demonstrate the beauty of small crystals as well as assist in studying minerals and their crystal forms. Unfortunately these pictures also display faults and need for additional cleaning
